RE: Request for Proposal: Director, The Center for Nurse Entrepreneurship

Background and Purpose of this Request

The Future of WV (The FONWV) is a 501c3 organization with a mission of creating a culture of health in West Virginia through advances in nursing education, practice, and leadership. We sponsor nurse-led activities across the state that promote health and wellness through education, policy, and enhanced access to the lens of the nurse. One such project is our very successful nurse entrepreneur program. While nurses are creative and innovative, they often report a lack of business acumen. Our program teaches nurses the business skills they need to open health-related businesses. We offer long-term coaching, mentoring, and resources to help nurses bring their goods/services to the market. The FONWV has opened the Aila Accad Center for Nurse Entrepreneurship (CNE) in Charleston, WV, which serves as an entrepreneurial hub, a physical space, and staff for more comprehensive education and training. Funding for this project is derived from federal and regional grants.

We are now seeking a responsible Director to administer and organize all activities related to the Center for Nurse Entrepreneurship and the Nurse Entrepreneur (Business Development) program. The Director will work closely with the support staff including nurse business coaches, marketing, data, and evaluation coordinators to prepare and execute all aspects of the program including recruiting nurses to the nurse entrepreneur course, improving and delivering the curriculum, conducting program evaluation, managing the budget, preparing compliance reports, and securing new sources of revenue to scale and sustain the program.

To succeed in this role, the Director should have experience in project management, business ownership, and business coaching, supervising direct reports, and grant writing. Excellent time management and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. A strong understanding of health care and in particular, nurse-led innovation is a plus.

This is a full-time, grant-funded, 1099 position located in Charleston, WV. Some statewide travel is expected.
